No suffering is ever about another person, it is always the result of the relationship between you and yourself. It stems from not enough self-love. We sometimes look to others to make us feel special and lovable. Why does it seem difficult to get the love we need from others?
The real
question to ask yourself is, “Am I practicing unconditional love for myself?”
The person who the unconditional love must start with is you. No one else will
be able to compensate for the lack of love you give to yourself. This is
how the universe works.
What does
unconditional love look like and feel like? Well, someone that truly loves themselves
speaks kindly to and about themselves; someone who does what they enjoy; someone
who allows other’s to treat them well; and someone who finds joy daily...to name a few!
It all
starts with our thoughts. What I tell myself and you tell yourself is super
important. Do you say kind things or bad things in relation to you? You may be
almost oblivious to the poor self-talk and limiting beliefs. That’s ok. You can
start today to turn things around.
Focus on one positive aspect about you
and praise yourself for it. Continue doing this until you’ve created a list of
all your good qualities. When you have a down day you can look back over your
list for inspiration. When you’re experiencing an awesome day remember to add to your list.
