I often wondered if writer’s block isn’t just an excuse
because I’m letting fear take over. Maybe I’m afraid to let my creativity flow and
expand into my energy field? Maybe I’m afraid of being seen?
A close friend of mine recently said to me she feels like
she takes up too much space. She was referring to her weight and overall body
image. I began thinking that a lot of us may be afraid to take up space. Not
entirely weight/size wise, more in stepping in to our own and making space or a
place for ourselves. Not allowing fear to stifle our creativity.
How many of us are tired of staying quiet when
we want to sing, or dance, or possibly shout? It’s time for a major energy shift, one in which we
hone our abilities and share them with the world. We don’t have to be afraid to expand in this world, to expand into our energy fields (or whatever you like to call it). This is a time when we can
live, love and manifest remarkable new experiences. We can finally start taking
up space, and take up as much space as possible!
Let’s fill our field with love
and gratitude, letting go of fear to own our truth. Learning to love ourselves
and expect to get all the things we desire. We are worthy of this and deserve
all of it just because we exist.

My mom said the most poignant thing to me the other day. We were talking
about EFT and creating better lives for ourselves. She said when you love
yourself fully you're finally taking complete responsibility for you. Through
tapping (EFT) and meditation my mom has broken through several limiting core
beliefs about herself. She told me that being a single parent and raising two
kids seemed less intimidating than taking full responsibility for herself!
This was
so enlightening to me. I never realized how much fear I have about taking responsibility
for me…what if I let myself down? I never want to let anyone down, I’ve spent
years trying to be the perfect friend, daughter, girlfriend, sister, employee, boss, customer, co-worker,
and several other titles just because I didn’t want to let anyone down. Taking
responsibility for me means honoring and loving myself. All these what-if’s
started popping up when I took a closer look at my fear relating to loving myself.
What if I’m not cut out for it? What if I can’t really love myself? How am I
going to do this?
Whenever I’m
faced with something that seems overwhelming or super scary I often make a list
of things that help me feel more prepared. I came up with a few steps I’ve been
taking along this journey of self-love. Step 1: being truthful about what I
want and what makes me happy. Step 2: starting to overcome my fear, which tapping
helps me with daily (sometimes hourly!) Step 3: believing I can do this. The
believing part is crucial. You must believe that you can do this. Anything you
want to accomplish and have in your life comes quickly when you believe it’s
already yours. Step 4: acting like it is so. What would someone who loves themself
and takes full responsibility for themself look like? Well, they’d probably say
good things about themself, I imagine they smile a good bit, eat well (zero
fast food), exercise (preferably yoga), create and experience things that bring
joy, and surround themself with people that think they’re awesome.
I look
back at all the things I’ve accomplished and I know if I can do all of that…I
can do this too. I challenge you to look back at your life, you’ve done some
pretty spectacular things I’m sure! Make a list of your top 10 accomplishments;
shoot for 20 if it feels right. Believe in yourself and your ability to love
yourself and take responsibility for you! Try meditation and EFT to shift your energy. Don’t forget to practice gratitude every day. I wake up each morning
and say at least 10 things I’m grateful for. Gratitude automatically shifts
your energy to a more loving place where anything is possible.
I have been lacking in the motivation department today, in part I think because I forgot to say what I was grateful for this morning! Gratitude is the key, when I am being grateful for anything in my life I automatically feel better. I also haven't done much EFT or said any of my favorite affirmations either. I always feel better when I'm using positive affirmations.
I've been reading Louise Hay's book You Can Heal Your Life again. I come across it every so often and think, "Huh, why don't I look at this more often?" It's like a magnificent quotes Bible or something! She has so much positivity and love packed into the pages just cracking it open makes me feel better!
What I love most about Louise's book is that there is always some new insight I walk away with, even if I've read the book numerous times! Enjoy the following video where I showcase several of her awesome quotes.
I cannot talk enough about what I did Easter weekend! I went to the most amazing
yoga class I’ve ever been to in my life! It’s called a Trance Dance, which is a
meditation-type dance created by Shiva Rea. Trance Dance melds music, movement,
rhythm, and breathing together to create a beautifully spiritual and healing
experience. It is themost beautiful, amazing, awe-inspiring, opening of
the chakras, and loving-energy-flow experience that I’ve ever had at a yoga
class.
The class began with having everyone in a circle passing
around tinctures and incense. We each took turns saying something we’d like to
heal or release. Then we each took a turn stating what we’d like to get from
our dancing. I stated I wanted to experience joy, love and abundance…of course!
After each person spoke their piece everyone said, “Aho.” It sounds like awe-hoe and essentially means I
acknowledge you. Each one of us was acknowledged and I found that quite
touching. In our daily lives we don’t often take the time to acknowledge
one another, much less ourselves.
Afterwards we did some stretching along with some
pretty amazing music. Finally the dancing began and soon we were all moving around the
room. I was so into the music and movement I don’t really know when the song
changed. There were many different types of music Native American, Latin, Hip
Hop, and something that sounded jazzy (straight from the 1920’s).
Each of us danced
out our fear and inhibitions; we danced out tragedies and losses. Then we danced
in love, light and awesomeness! I wish I had a video of it. Well, maybe not
because then I might pick apart every little movement I made, and it was much too spiritual and
beautiful to do that. I felt love from myself, for myself, and love from the
entire universe. It was extremely moving and wonderful to connect with everyone
in the room.
When we finished the class I hugged just about
everyone in the room. I believe I told almost every other person I loved them!
They were all so supportive and giving of their cheers and praise. It was
magical. I want to have a Trance-Dance every week, better yet every day!
Imagine if you had your own cheering squad and pep rally just for you. You’d
feel loved and perfect every moment. It may be a bit unrealistic to think I can
feel that every moment, but I’d at least like to try. It was perfect. I felt my
oneness with the universe.
A good question to
ask yourself is what are your beliefs about money? One thing that most of us
believe is that, “I don’t have enough money.” Our beliefs about the world and
our ability to earn shape the world we live in. Once you’re able to pinpoint
any negative beliefs you have about yourself relating to money you’re able to
see how you’ve been the source of your current monetary situation.
This has been an
extremely difficult thing for me, to look at my actions and realize that I’ve
brought on the debt and this “lack” mentality. Initially I did a lot of blaming
and shaming. I quickly realized this would not solve my money woes. I began to
really look at myself and my beliefs, like “I never have enough” and “I will
always struggle with finances.” Shining a light on these beliefs opened up a
way for me to shift my energy and start to change at a deeper level. You can do
the same thing.
Once you see your
beliefs clearly you suddenly have access to creating something different.
You’re able to change your story thus changing the belief! Imagine if you
believed at a core level “I always have enough money” or “I have endless
amounts of money.” How would these beliefs affect your life? How would they
affect your daily actions/behaviors? Would your life or environment look
different?
How do you get to a
better financial situation? One way is to make a concerted and consistent
effort to change your behavior. If you never save money and you always spend
your whole paycheck (and it’s not all for bills) start putting a portion into
savings. The changes of course will be based on your specific behaviors.
Another way to start this transformation is through tapping. Tapping is
allowing me to release old hurts and beliefs and it’s making it much easier for
me to start putting in more positive, and uplifting thoughts into my belief
system.
In the following
video I use a different script but it shows you the meridian points & how
to do EFT:
If anything in the
following script doesn’t quite fit, please change the words to ones that
resonate with you. You’ll start by finding a sore spot on your chest and gently
massaging the area. Take two deep breaths. The script will be centered on a
fairly common feeling people have towards money “I never have enough money.”
Say this statement and rate this on a scale 0-10, 0 being not true at all and 10
being extremely true. You will tap on the various pressure points I've listed
or what's most comfortable to you.
Not Enough Money Script
Chest/Collarbone:
Even though I never have enough money and this is discouraging and
disappointing, I love and accept myself. Even though I feel like there is never
enough money, that’s okay I love and respect myself. I forgive myself for
feeling like there is never enough money. I love and accept myself whether I
have enough money or not.
Sternum area: Even
though I often see others who have lots of money and I wonder why I don’t,
that's ok. I choose to accept myself & where I am.
Top of ribs: I am
broke most of the time. This is not what I want!
Underarm: I want to
have lots of money.
Top of head: I want
to live the life that I want. I want to have plenty of cash!
Eyebrow: I think I
have to break my back to have an abundance of money.
Side of eye: It’s
not okay for me to have lots of money.
Under eye: It’s
okay for other people but not for me. Pause a moment, take a deep
breath and see where your number is. Has is dropped? Gone up?
Collarbone/Chest:
Even though I don’t have lots of money and I can’t be successful because it
seems just out of my reach. I’m open to a new possibility. Even though I've
always struggled financially, I choose to be open to new ways of dealing with
money. Even though this seems impossible, I’m open to a new possibility right
now.
Wrist: Even though
is seems other people don’t struggle as much as I do & I wonder why...
Thumb: Maybe I
don’t have to always struggle, maybe I could do what they do.
Index finger:
Probably not Middle
finger: I’m smart, why not? Ring
finger: Probably not though Pinky:
Maybe I could
Top of
the head: I’m still not sure I can have more money
Eyebrow:
I’m not sure if I can have all the things I want. Side
of eye: Don’t you have to break your back to have everything you want? Under
eye: I know I do Nose:
At least I think I do. I have to struggle to have more money.
Chin: Maybe I
don’t. Maybe I do.
Chest: I’m open to
a new way.
Sternum: I’m ready
to shift my thinking and embrace a new life...
Ribs: What if I
could make money without having to constantly struggle?
Underarm: What if I
could have lots of money?
Head: I’m open to
this possibility now. There is an abundant universe out there.
Karate chop: Even
though I can’t make more money because I don’t know how, I don’t have a
strategy. I choose to love and accept myself. Even though I’m not sure how I
will make more money, I choose to remember that the universe is abundant. I
choose to remember that the universe has tons of resources just for me! Even
though I have no idea how this will work, I choose to trust God and the
universe to show me how to do this.
Collarbone: Even
though I don’t know how, I choose to focus on abundance and leave the rest up
to God/universe.
Sternum: I don’t
know how to make lots of money
Ribs: I don’t have
a plan
Underarm: I don’t
know how
Head: I don’t know
how to do this
Eyebrow: Maybe I
could learn
Side of eye: But I
don’t know how
Under eye: I’m open
to learning how to have lots of money
Nose: I choose to
be shown how to have an abundance of money
Chin: I’m open to
learning how to have lots of money
Chest: I choose to
allow the universe to show me. I allow the universe to show me right now.
If I have any
thoughts or feelings that consistently pop up while tapping I will often write
them down. These thoughts can be another topic for a future tapping session.
It's good to have an EFT notebook where you jot down any insights, feelings or
beliefs that occur to you while tapping. You can always look back through the
notebook for things you may need to work on.
This is the first time I've made spinach pesto, and it's phenomenal! When I
first tasted it out of the blender I felt like it was missing something. I let
it sit in the fridge for an hour, and then I mixed it in with some gluten free
pasta. Wow! It tasted great, I thought "Man this is made with
spinach!"
It's considered a raw pesto if you use raw nuts. I didn't have any raw nuts
on hand, but I will use raw next time. It's a really simple recipe and I hope
you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
Spinach Pesto
1 tsp garlic salt
3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
3 cup Spinach or Basil
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup soaked walnuts or brazil nuts (I let them soak overnight)
You will blend all of the ingredients is a blender or food processor. I
recommend having a spatula on hand so you can blend a little, push everything
down, blend a little more, push ingredients down, etc. This keeps things from
getting stuck to the side of the container instead of getting blended. Once you’re
finished you can use it on pasta, salads, sandwiches, and whatever else you
choose. It should keep 3-4 days.
This
past Saturday I went to Innerlight’s Spring Mala. Innerlight is a yoga studio
in RI. If you’re in the area definitely check it out.
You might be asking
yourself what is a Spring Mala? I know I did when I first heard about it.
Basically a Spring Mala is a time when we can become
aligned with nature, such as the natural awakening that occurs in the spring.
Spring is a time when trees, flowers and all sorts of plants are budding and
butterflies are fluttering about.This
is a time when night and day are in equal balance, as light prepares to
overtake dark. Days are becoming longer, brighter and warmer.
A
mala is 108 sun salutations. A sun salutation is essentially saluting the sun,
yet it signifies so much more than that. It’s like an awakening of your spirit,
your joy, and inner light/love. Basically, you’re connecting with the sun and
recognizing your oneness with it. It’s a beautiful and powerful practice.
The
Spring Mala was supposed to last 2 hours and ended up being close to 3, and it
was so worth it! We did four sets of 27 salutations and took little,
restorative breaks in between. After the initial round of 27 sun salutations I
was feeling warmed up and thinking I can do another set. After the second set
my shoulders began to ache and I thought I can do at least one more set. After
the 3rd set my shoulders and wrists were killing me but I figured
I’d made it this far so I kept going! I did take a few short breaks during the
final round to sustain my poor shoulders.
I
am really proud of myself for staying for the entire set. I needed to do this
to show myself I can do this! Also, to show myself how much self-healing
I’ve actually done since December (when all my back issues started). I am falling into complete belief of my abilities to heal
myself and embrace the future. For the first time I really feel like I’m
running towards my future instead of away from it. This is a good feeling.
Is
there something you’d like to do, possibly a personal challenge you want to make?
I say make it today. See it through regardless of how long it takes you or how
much you may want to give up. You’re worth it!
